It was not only scientists and theologians who eagerly discussed Darwinism, but also among many poets, Darwinism was a hot topic. The later Nobel Prize winner and freethinker Karl Gjellerup was a great admirer of Darwin. This manifested itself when he wrote an ode to Darwin after his death in 1882.
