Current debate: education

An important prerequisite for understanding the significance of Darwin and the fundamental mechanisms of evolution is that one is taught the material. How, when, and how much, one needs to know is continually being discussed in both national and international contexts. However, one thing is certain: we need to take the education of our children and young people seriously and take it into consideration when we discuss the public understanding and acceptance of evolution as well as scientific knowledge in general.

Here, you can among other things read an entry discussing the difficult challenge of explaining Darwin and evolution to children. You can also read about an experience concerning bringing Darwin and evolution into the classroom during the annual Science Festival in Cambridge.
